So what about the Adults?
So this is always the most important question right? It will take an amazing group of self-sacrificing adults who will give up their time, their money and their sleep to make sure teenagers have the best encounter they can possibly have at NYC. The adult leaders can make or break an NYC. This page is to provide clarity on who can be volunteers, and what the expectations are.
There are two basic ways to volunteer and attend NYC 2026
WV South NYC Adult Sponsor
Adult sponsors are those who help lead the WV South delegation at NYC. This group of volunteers are part of our district team. We will leave local church affiliations behind and will work as a single district team. Here are some base expectations to qualify as an adult sponsor.
- Must be 23 or older.
- Preference will be given to Youth Pastors and NYI Presidents.
- Must be able to physically handle the rigors of the event. Lots of walking, heat (it will be summer), and very late hours and early mornings over an entire week will be expected.
- Adult sponsors will be expected to have an active relationship with Jesus Christ. Hard to help someone experience Christ personally if it is not personal.
- Adult sponsors are expected to be practicing Nazarenes who support Nazarene polity and practice.
- Adult sponsors are expected to pay same amount as students. There are no discounts for adults.
- Adult sponsors will be expected to attend monthly Zoom meetings once the team is established. These will be mandatory as we develop the team and pray for our district students who will be attending.
- Adult sponsors will be required to take Ministry safe training and pass a ministry safe background check. (Provided by the district)
- Adults will be housed with other same gender sponsors (Each adult will have their own bed, about the only benefit to being an adult)

NYC Adult Volunteer
There are several opportunities participate in NYC outside of the district team. NYC needs a huge volunteer base to operate. The focus of these volunteer opportunities focuses on the NYC as a whole.
